Choosing a Top Quality Steel Building: Beware the “Budget” Structure
If you are considering buying a pre-engineered steel building, then it is likely you have been aware of many advertisements lately. Perhaps you have heard or seen an ad telling you that you must “hurry to get this great price.” The question is whether these ads are offering quality all-steel structures or merely a low-priced “economy” style.
Often at a fraction of the price of a more conventional building, high grade all-steel buildings are priced fairly by trustworthy steel structure manufacturers or contract manufacturers. These companies and their quality buildings are not the issue. For the most part it is the bargain “economy” designs that are of dubious quality. Commercial caliber all-steel buildings use tough 26-gauge steel. Inferior 29-gauge steel is used for “economy” steel structures. This is not a sufficient gauge to design and inhabit a steel building with. The upkeep of these substandard buildings will be far higher than for a 26-gauge structure.
A Quonset hut is a good example of an older style of steel structure. They are offered at low prices but as they need to be insulated, they are not so inexpensive in the long-run. Quonset steel are basically an ineffective building style and the heating, venting, and air conditioning costs over the serviceable life of such a steel structure make this originally “inexpensive” steel structure a very costly acquisition.
You may wish to compare the purchase of a steel building to an important medical procedure that you must undergo. Do you look around for the cheapest doctor to carry out the procedure? Or would you rather find a doctor who has a successful history and is known for quality service? If you would prefer the latter, then you should subsequently look at only top quality steel structure manufacturers. There are no “middleman” costs and although the “lowest priced” all-steel building may not be on offer, these companies will offer you the best value on the market for a quality product. Only premium quality materials should be utilized. You will be doing business with a single vendor and they will deal with the initial design of your building, right through to the rigging and completion.
